The Philosophy of Imagination

An individual has to imagine what steps and goals they have to go for because every result starts from imagination. An artist begins by imagining a particular work that they want to create. They then draw the sketch, manifesting it in collaboration with another material. Likewise, writers visualize what kind of writing they will write. In another example, a child who wants to work on language problems about the books they have read will draw in detail the intrinsic and intrinsic elements they get.

Imagination appears to play a role as a process. Imagining and participating are main in human life. Imagination exists when things are complex or straightforward people can draw an actual conclusion. In other words, imagination plays a principal role in human life. It is not the case if, in the world of imagination, a person can explore himself and show the authenticity of his reflections without fear of others judging or limiting him.

In short, imagination is at the starting point of a process. It is a long journey of making and doing things. Imagination is a preparation that someone needs to make before they act real based on what they have imagined.

Why Literature Matters?

In other words, a free person can create anything according to his creativity; no restrictions can prohibit it. At some point, the world of imagination is full of authentic self-freedom. In contrast to the world of reality, this is not the case if a person can explore himself. He can show the authenticity of his reflection without fear of others judging him. Existing barriers will continue to limit that person in the real world.

Whether through religious merits or social values, these boundaries will make a person unwilling or unable to express himself freely. Tim Gillespie quotes the words of President Bill Clinton in his article entitled Why Literature Matters. In the quote, the president said that people did not expect children to live lives they did not imagine. From here, imagination takes a salient role in life.

What Gillespie wanted to convey was simple: children would find it hard to live lives they couldn’t imagine. The reason is that they live from imagination, pushing them able to fight in their life. In short, imagination takes care of and nurtures them until they grow up, never belonging to children alone.

The Philosophy of Literature

Usually, we can assume that a person’s imagination ability appears. However, its existence is not the case because everyone always presumes to have imagination. As a result, they always know which way to act and what direction to take. When we never train our imagination abilities, over time, they will die. The way out is clear, namely, to continue to train imagination abilities even from an early age.

Thus, it is not surprising that children’s works full of imagination are always beyond the expectations of adults. There is always something new that we produce only through unlimited passion. For such reason, literature takes a clear role in training the imagination. In its simple form, as well as education in writing or reading, literature will continuously hone a child’s imagination ability.

It helps someone to be more familiar with his imagination. Words get them out of those boundaries. It presents their imagination in imagining what they have just read. In addition to the frontiers they create by reading, we can train children to recognize descriptive words. Likewise, with writing, what is in his dreams becomes a new form. As a result, other people can enjoy or see something that is in their imagination by writing.

Pedagogy of Young Generation

Thus, children learn to realize their imagination. Ironically, it is a cause for concern when we see the young generation growing faster than it should. Perhaps, literary education has continued to develop in various circles. At every opportunity, both non-formal and formal, the teachers, beyond doubt, educate children through the literature lessons they receive. Of course, they can access literary works themselves, which they can hone their imagination beyond that.

In addition, the business does not necessarily run smoothly just like that. It’s because there are challenges that we need to overcome and face. We can continue and develop literary education which trains imagination continuously. When the culture of writing and reading is no longer popular, in our opinion, it should be uncomplicated written pedagogy. In the modern era, we can replace both, such as watching television or YouTube, and playing computer or video games.

In both activities, it will be easy to grab the younger generation’s attention from the writing and reading culture. On the other hand, advanced technology and information in the digital era have had a profound effect on today’s young generation.

The Mentality of Interests

However, what they carry with them is the mentality of boredom. It tends to instill an unquestionable cell in the younger generation. With so many offers of information obtainable, the younger generation in the digital age familiarizes themselves with knowledge. Effortlessly, they can replace it with something else. Therefore, the resilience of the younger generation in producing literary works will fade over time.

Quite the opposite, the lack of educative children’s imaginative readings is concerning when they see a phenomenon where the younger generation is growing faster than they should. In short, their preference for reading books is not what it was ten or more years ago. Children can comfortably consume themes that adults or teenagers intended for them. As a result, imaginative readings that educate children set aside traditional literature.

Book producers may be more inclined to pursue more realistic profits in addition to slightly idealistic educational interests. With imagination, a person is first able to explore all the potential they have. In other words, one of the most effective ways to train passion is through literary education. While in its effortless forms, children learn to produce and recognize existing word boundaries.
